I took my car here in August and just recently had to change my oil again and now feel compelled to leave a review.
First when I took my car in they noticed a bit of oil in the back of the engine, they immediately tried to make it sound like a massive issue by saying it could be a head gasket leak. The thing is my car is a early 2000's toyota, head gasket issues in them are rare, when I pressed further they then said it could be coming from any number of parts in the engine. I asked if it could be old oil from a prior repair, they said maybe. After talking with a car savvy friend they said it should be obvious if it is fresh (same day) or old (older than a couple days oil). I requested they clean the oil off. Turns out it was in fact old oil from a previous repair at another shop.
They also offer free car cleaning with any service. I don't know what they use to clean but I brought my car in with a small bit of clear coat peeling in one spot and left with a massive bubbling of the clear coat down from that spot. Highly recommend you decline this offer if you decide to go there if you have ANY imperfection in your clear coat.
Despite not asking prior to taking my car when my last air filter replacement or transmission service was they decided to add that they should be done in the inspection notes. My filters at that point were about 1-2 month old (I had done them myself) so they clearly did not even check the filters to see if a comment about replacing them was warranted. Considering how quick checking the air filters is this is a bit of a scummy move in my opinion.
My car is a specific model that has an atypical oil capacity, something easily searchable with the model info. Mine is a 3.7L oil capacity, the standard version of my car is a 4.2L oil capacity. Instead of checking what specific model required they filled it with the standard 4.2L, thus leading to my oil being above the max.
The biggest thing to note if you do decide to go there is that they will torque your oil drain nut and your oil filter to hell when they do an oil change instead of the standard tightness. When I did my oil change after the one they did I found that the drain nut was partially stripped either due to using a incorrect on or perhaps because of how hard they turned/torqued this nut. The oil filter was on so tight that trying to remove it I had to use a pair of vice grips, I then had to use so much force that the gripes actually began to strip the outside of the filter before it got it loose enough to get it off by hand.
Overall I am thoroughly disappointed in my experience at a place as highly rated as this and will not be bringing my business back there.

Progressive lives up to the reputation and reviews seen here. Honest, professional, kind staff - John and Shayla were particularly great to deal with. It appears the quality is there for the cost, giving you value in what you pay for. This is my first time dealing with progressive, but from my experience thus far, it’s likely they’ve got my business moving forward! 👍🏾

Don’t usually leave reviews, but they were great. They got me in same week, kept me updated, were thorough and the final bill even came in a bit under the original quote. Super smooth start to finish. Recommend for Porsche owners as I was searching for an independent shop. Will be back

I've been taking my Audi here for the past couple of years since I bought it. The staff at Progressive have always been extremely professional: excellent communication, work completed on time, and honest suggestions on maintenance work. The proces are better than the dealership and as far as I can tell the work quality meets or exceeds Audi's standards.
Most recently, the staff especially Shayla were very accomodating in fitting in some warranty work on short notice in order to get some expensive repairs covered for me.
Overall I can't recommend this shop enough. I don't think there are many other places I'd be comfortable taking my car in Victoria.

Extremely responsive to my needs, and took care of the issue promptly and more than fair with the charges. I will undoubtedly use their services going forward for my BMW, and highly recommend them to anyone needing service for their vehicle.

This is one of those shops where people are honest and hard working. These guys deserve a 7-star rating. I was on a road trip traveling through Victoria when my SUV started making strange sounds. These guys fit me in for the same day appointment, fixed the issue promptly, and did not even charge me for it saying "we did not do much". Amazing service. Highly recommend them.

Our experience was excellent. We broke down across the street, at 5:55 pm, and before 6:00 the car was in the shop. They looked at it the next day, and at 3:00, we had the car in our possession.
Communication was amazing and detailed. It was so helpful to know all the information about my car to make our decisions about the repairs needed.

I’ve dealt with Progressive for about 2 years and I honestly could not have asked for a better team to take care of my vehicle. I had a full vehicle inspection done and brakes replaced at Progressive Auto Repair and Maintenance and couldn’t be happier with the service. Not only was the work done professionally, but they also went above and beyond by noticing and fixing a disconnected vacuum hose and taking care of a door hinge that needed greasing at no charge —something small but important. Their attention to detail and care really stood out. On top of that, they offered me a courtesy car, which made everything so convenient. Truly top-notch service and great people. Highly recommend!

Progressive Auto repair is the most elite mechanic shop on Vancouver Island. I own a 2004 VW Jetta, over the years it’s had it normal age related wear and tear. Before finding Progressive Auto any car related issues would cause me so much stress, anxiety and worry but since taking my car to them I know my car and I are well taken care of. The service this shop delivers is beyond exceptional. On more than one occasion my car has had something come up and they have offered to take the car in on short notice and help me out, also offering a loaner car in the mean time. As someone who works in health care and has a very tight work schedule, this type of support is greatly appreciated. All the technicians are professional, knowledge and always go above and beyond. Recently, photos of you car before and after service are uploaded into a portal for the owner to view - This truly goes beyond exceptional service. Every time I leave after a completed service I truly feel like they have my cars best interest at heart and not just wanting my money. When you call the shop you are greeted by one of the front desk staff who are accommodating, knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Shayla, who has worked there since I first started taking my car there, is one of the most wonderful people I have ever met who has the most immaculate vibes, I have so much appreciation for her help during every single visit and phone call. Shayla knows I am not well educated with car related things and knows I get anxious when my Jetta has an issue and every time I need something explained she does so in a way I can understand and doesn’t make me feel blockheaded.

We rocked up with metal on metal brakes while visiting Victoria. They got us in the same day and had the problem fixed the following day. Absolutely stellar service and communication throughout. Super kind, practical, and respectful despite our vehicle being a bit of a beater. And they even had a cookie for our poor dog who was so done with being away from home.

They love their German cars! I think half the staff own an Audi, and it shows in their knowledge and commitment. I brought my beloved S5 for some mid-life repairs, and they treated the car like it was their own. The Audi dealership up the road treated me like my old S5 was a waste of their time, and would only follow the Audi-approved maximum profit formula (repair by selling you a new car). Progressive on the other hand looked at what was good, and what needed a bit of TLC, they delivered quickly, and for a reasonable price. Thanks team!

We have had this company help us with 3 cars now. Their customer service is amazing! They text you promptly with what they find and write out a detailed list of things they find that need attention. Great mechanical work! They even gave my son a hotwheels car after which he was over the moon about.

I was blown away by the customer service! Shayla was professional and quick and should be the face of the company. All the emails showing what needed to be done was thurow and explained very well what was urgent. Very impressed overall with the service, can't say enough about it! I had a great experience here. I often find dealing with car issues a little intimidating but I brought my car in at 1pm and in a few hours they emailed me the issue, how they fixed it, the invoice, and that it was ready to pick up. The price was also in the range that they estimated over the phone beforehand and in line with the other shop I called for an estimate. Easiest car related interaction I've ever had.
